Hi, I’m James — the feet behind James Walks the Woof! 🐾
After more than 25 years in the IT industry, I made a life-changing move from Surrey to the beautiful Scottish Borders, settling in Galashiels. Though originally from Canada, I’m proud of my Scottish roots and thrilled to now call this part of the world home—and to finally pursue something truly close to my heart: caring for our four-legged friends. Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. I’ve shared my home with more than a dozen over the years, and each one has left pawprints on my heart. I’ve have training in obedience, agility, and flyball, but I’m happiest outdoors on long countryside walks with a wagging tail by my side. Recently, we said a heartfelt goodbye to our beloved Cilla—our 12-year-old English Springer Spaniel who lived with epilepsy from the age of one. Through her, I learned how to care for dogs with medical needs and special conditions, and I bring that same patience and compassion to every pup I walk.  Whether it’s energetic pups or older dogs needing a gentler pace, I’m experienced, patient, and genuinely love their company. I understand the trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care, and I take that responsibility seriously. Group Walks

Personalized Dog Walking

Not every dog thrives in a group—and that’s perfectly okay. Whether your pup is shy, senior, recovering from injury, or just prefers a quieter pace, my personalized walks are tailored to suit their energy, temperament, and routine. ✔️ One-on-one attention ✔️ Walks at your dog’s preferred pace ✔️ Familiar routes or new adventures—your choice ✔️ Ideal for puppies, older dogs, or those with special needs Each walk is a chance for your dog to feel safe, stimulated, and truly cared for—whether it’s a gentle stroll through the woods or a sniff-filled wander around the neighbourhood. 💷 £15 per walk 💷 £65 per week (Mon–Fri)

Doggie Day Care & Home Boarding

A home-from-home for your dog while you’re away Whether you're working, running errands, or simply need a day to yourself, your dog can enjoy a full day of care, companionship, and enrichment in a calm, loving environment. For longer periods—such as when you’re on holiday—our home boarding service offers the same personalised care, ensuring your dog feels safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. At James Walks the Woof, day care isn’t just about supervision—it’s about connection. Your dog will enjoy structured walks, playtime, rest, and plenty of cuddles, all tailored to their personality and needs.
